Watson Named Nurse of the Year 2012

Norine Watson, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, director of nursing excellence, Nemours/duPont Hospital for Children, Wilmington, DE, and Forum advisory board member was recently named Nurse of the Year 2012 by Nemours/AIDHC

The Nurse-of-the-Year was selected using the following criteria:

  • Demonstrates the use of evidence-based practice in patient care and/or policy review.
  • Acts as a preceptor or teacher;
  • Participates in Quality, Safety, Service or Technology initiative that resulted in a practice change;
  • Participates in a Nursing Quality, Practice, Management, Research & Education, APRN or Informatics Council initiative that positively impacted the nursing practice environment or patient outcomes;
  • Teaches peers and supported the Magnet designation process;
  • Demonstrates leadership through working on a unit-based or hospital wide committee or council.
  • Represents Nemours Nursing in the community;
  • Impacts the care or the outcome of a patient or family member either physically or psychosocially; and
  • Takes steps to ensure the patient care environment is safe.
