Majeda Afeef, PhD(c), MSN, RN
Majeda is the Director of Nursing Services at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) in
Jordan. In her current role her responsibilities include planning, directing,and
leadership development. KHCC is the first hospital in Jordan to start the journey
toward MagnetŪ excellence. Majeda is leading this journey with help and support from her team, in addition to establishing the first program for evidence-based practice and nursing research in a clinical setting.
Majeda and her team at KHCC initiated the first shared governance structure in
Jordan, and she is planning to study shared governance using the Hess Index of
Professional Nursing Governance to determine the perception of shared governance
among nurses throughout the journey toward excellence. She was a co-investigator
with nursing colleagues at the American University of Beirut in their shared governance study
as well.
Majeda is doctoral student at the University of Jordan. On a on national level, she is a member of the executive board for the Jordanian Nursing Council, which is the first
organization in Jordan to become an American Nurses Credentialing Center-accredited provider
for continuing nursing education. Majeda believes that high-quality care is
essential in healthcare system; she supported KHCC interdisciplinary quality
initiatives as well as participated in activities of the Jordanian healthcare
accreditation council. She has delivered many invited presentations in national professional
meetings and in nursing schools.
